We do not build isolated apps. We build systems
30 June 2026 · SOM-OS
There is a phrase we repeat at SOM-OS more often than should be necessary: we do not build isolated apps; we build systems. It is not a marketing slogan. It is the difference between delivering something that looks good in a demo and delivering something that supports a company’s operations for years.
The problem with an isolated app
Most agencies work like this: the client arrives, signs a quote, Figma is opened, screens are designed, code is written and the project is delivered. Two months later, there is a new application. Nobody uses it.
The team still copies and pastes in Excel. The data is still in WhatsApp. Forms are still printed for signing. The new app is another screen that needs feeding manually — another system to maintain, rather than one that replaces the previous one.
This happens because they built an isolated app: a piece of software that talks to nothing. No integrations. No connected data. No underlying process. Beautiful in the demo, useless in production.
What a system is
A system is architecture. It is not a screen — it is the structure that connects processes, data, integrations and intelligence. When we build a system for a client, we are not building an app. We are building the rails on which their business will operate from now on.
The specific difference:
- Isolated app: a screen that does not talk to your tools. Data is duplicated by hand. The real process does not change.
- System: processes rewritten as software, centralised data, integrations that move information automatically and an AI layer operating on top of it all.
A system is not built from the outside in (screen first, process later). It is built from the inside out: first you understand the process, then digitise it, then add intelligence.
The 3 moves
At SOM-OS, every project follows the same pattern. We call it the 3 moves:
- 1. Analyse. Map the current system: what data exists, which tools are used and where the bottlenecks are. Before writing a line of code, you need to understand how the operation works today. Not how the organisation chart says it works — how it really works, with hidden spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages at 23:00.
- 2. Optimise. Rewrite critical processes as custom software + integrations. This is where we build the apps, APIs and connections between tools. But not as isolated screens — as parts of a system that shares data and processes.
- 3. Scale with AI. Deploy the intelligence layer on the new architecture. Agents that automate tasks, models that process data and AI that operates on clean, connected information. Not AI “for the sake of it” — AI that works because it has structure underneath.
The order is not optional
The most expensive mistake businesses make is not building bad software. It is trying to add AI to analogue chaos. If your data sits in five spreadsheets and nobody knows which is correct, if processes run through WhatsApp, if nobody on your team knows exactly who does what — AI will not fix it. It amplifies it.
AI without context is an expensive parrot. It repeats without understanding. It needs clean data architecture before it can contribute anything.
That is why the order of the moves is not optional. You cannot jump from analogue to intelligent. There are stages:
- From analogue to digital — digitise what is currently paper, Excel and WhatsApp.
- From digital to intelligent — scale with AI on digital architecture that works.
Skipping stages is the shortest route to failure. We have seen it in every company that arrives saying “we want to add AI” without having its data organised. The first answer is not “let’s add AI”. It is “let’s map what you have”.
How we build it: Foundation
SOM-OS’s speed does not come from working faster. It comes from not starting from zero. We build on Foundation, our monorepo template: Nuxt 4 + NestJS 11 + PostgreSQL 17 + Redis + BullMQ + S3 + Stripe + LangChain.
Foundation already has authentication, a database, queues, storage, payments, emails, i18n, a CMS and webhooks. The foundation exists. We assemble it and adapt it to the client’s workflow. That is why a system that would take another agency 3 months takes us 3–4 weeks.
It is not a generic SaaS. It is not WordPress with plugins. It is our own code, built on a proven foundation that stays with you.
Real cases
Sando Capital. They arrived without a website, system or database. In 3 weeks they had a centralised system: website + AI agent + Cal.com + CRM, all integrated. Not an isolated app — a complete system that supports their operations.
Nemus Arboricultura. They worked with 5 tools that did not communicate. We unified them into one system. Data moves automatically. The team stopped copying and pasting. When the time comes to add AI, the architecture will already be ready.
The thesis
We do not build isolated apps. We build the software architecture on which AI will operate your business tomorrow. If you need a €500 landing page in 3 days, we are not who you are looking for. If you need a system that connects your processes, centralises your data and lays the foundation for scaling with intelligence — let’s talk.
An app is a screen. A system is architecture. The difference is not aesthetic — it is the difference between something that looks good in a demo and something that supports your business for years.
