The stack and tools we use in 2026
A curated directory of the tools, libraries and resources we use at SOM-OS to build business operating systems. No affiliate links or paywalls. Just what works.
Recommended stack 2026
The core of every project. What we use in production every day.
A Vue meta-framework for production. SSR, SSG, ISR, API routes and layers. The foundation of all our frontends.
nuxt.com →A progressive Node framework with modular DI, guards and interceptors. An opinionated yet flexible architecture. Our default backend.
nestjs.com →A robust relational database. JSONB, full-text search, partitioning and logical replication. It never lets us down.
www.postgresql.org →An in-memory store for caching, sessions, pub/sub and BullMQ queues. Essential for workers.
redis.io →Job queues on Redis. Retries, delays, priorities, rate limiting and a dashboard. We use it for all asynchronous work.
docs.bullmq.io →A framework for building LLM applications. Agents, tools, chains, memory and RAG. The AI layer in our systems.
js.langchain.com →Payment processing, subscriptions, webhooks and Connect. A comprehensive, well-documented payment integration.
stripe.com →Object storage for files, backups and static assets. S3-compatible with AWS or self-hosted with MinIO.
min.io →Development tools
The tools we use for every commit, pull request and deployment.
A JavaScript/TypeScript linter with flat config. Integrated into CI to block pull requests with errors.
eslint.org →A Jest-compatible test runner that is faster and ESM-native. Integrated coverage for unit and integration tests.
vitest.dev →Cross-browser end-to-end testing. Parallel execution, traces and screenshots. We use it for post-deployment smoke tests.
playwright.dev →Containers for development and production. Multi-stage builds, Compose locally, Swarm or Kubernetes in production.
www.docker.com →CI/CD pipelines integrated with GitHub. Automated linting, testing, builds and deployment on every push.
github.com/features/actions →TypeScript-first schema validation. We use it for DTOs, forms, environment configuration and API responses.
zod.dev →A TypeScript ORM with type safety and migrations. An alternative to TypeORM or Drizzle when developer experience matters.
www.prisma.io →AI libraries
What we use to build agents, copilots and automations with LLMs.
An abstraction over LLMs: chains, agents, tools, memory and RAG. For building complex AI systems.
js.langchain.com →The official SDK for GPT-4o, o1, embeddings, Whisper and DALL-E. Streaming, function calling and vision.
github.com/openai/openai-node →The Claude SDK. A 200k context window, tool use and vision. An alternative to OpenAI with stronger reasoning.
github.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-typescript →A runtime for local models. Llama, Mistral and Qwen. On-premise AI without sending data elsewhere.
ollama.ai →A high-throughput inference server for open-source LLMs. PagedAttention and continuous batching.
docs.vllm.ai →Declarative programming for LLMs. Automatically optimises prompts and compiles to reproducible code.
dspy.ai →Learning resources
Documentation, courses and communities we recommend to our team.
The official Vue 3 documentation. Composition API, reactivity, Suspense and Teleport. Excellent documentation for a JavaScript framework.
vuejs.org →Free courses from Nuxt Labs. From the basics to deployment, modules and layers.
nuxt.com/learn →The official TypeScript reference. Generics, conditional types, template literals and utility types.
www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook →A curated collection of NestJS resources: modules, boilerplates, tutorials and patterns.
github.com/nestjs/awesome-nestjs →A complete PostgreSQL tutorial: from the basics to CTEs, window functions, partitioning and tuning.
www.postgresqltutorial.com →Free courses on NLP, transformers, fine-tuning and model deployment. From the basics to production.
huggingface.co/learn →Templates and boilerplates
Starting points so you do not start every project from scratch.
Premium Vue/Nuxt components with consistent design. Ready-to-use dashboards, landing pages and documentation.
ui.nuxt.com/pro →Copy-and-paste React/Vue components. Accessible, themeable and without dependency lock-in.
ui.shadcn.com →The official NestJS CLI. Generate modules, controllers, services and DTOs with one command. Complete scaffolding.
docs.nestjs.com/cli/overview →Define multi-container environments. PostgreSQL, Redis and your app in one file. Reproducible on any machine.
docs.docker.com/compose →A build system for JavaScript/TypeScript monorepos. Build caching, parallel execution and remote caching. For growing teams.
turbo.build →A code generator with EJS templates. We use it to create entities, services and DTOs without writing boilerplate.
hygen.io →Want a system built with this stack?
